Meet Larry and Barbara Lea. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They renewed their vows after the 10:30a.m. Mass on Oct. 29 and then celebrated their anniversary with their family and friends at a luncheon in our High School Cafeteria. They are long term parishioners of St. Gregory the Great Church, and over the years have contributed in many different ways to supporting our parish and its mission and ministries. We offer them our congratulations, and we pray that they will be blessed with many more years of health and happiness.
Meet Lenore Thomalla. On Sunday, Oct. 29 she was awarded the Christifideles Award from Cardinal Cupich. This award is given to parishioners who have given of their time and talent for many years to support the mission and ministry of their parish. Over the years she has served in many different parish ministries. She was the Director of our Saturday School of Religion program. She served on our Liturgy Committee. She helps with Art and Environment in our Church. She served on our Parish Transformation team. She is a minister of communion. She is one of our Parish treasures.
Meet Amy Alznauer our newest artist in residence. Amy, along with her husband Mark and her children John and Meg, is a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great. She is a member of our Parish Pastoral Council. She is an author who has had two books published – Love and Salt and 2017: A Book of Grace-Filled Days. As an artist in residence, Amy has been given a space in the Parish Center where she will do creative writing. We welcome Amy to our team of artists in residence. She will be joining us in writing one of our bimonthly spiritual reflections, and we look forward to other ways in which she can contribute her time and talent to supporting the mission and ministry of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Meet Molly Sheridan. Molly is one of our best and most faithful altar servers. She has also been a member of our Youth Choir. Molly recently graduated from Northside Catholic Academy. At the graduation ceremony, she received the President's Award - an award granted by the President to students who have achieved academic excellence. We congratulate Molly and wish her well this Fall as she begins High School.
2017 ACCW - WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Each year, the St. Gregory the Great Council of Catholic Women honors one of its members at an ACCW luncheon the day before Mother’s Day. This year our honoree is Isabel Martinez. Isabel has been involved in different ministries of St. Gregory the Great Parish and is always ready to volunteer her time and talent to help St. Gregory the Great in whatever way she can. We congratulate Isabel and thank her for the many ways in which she supports and promotes the mission and the ministries of our parish.
Meet former parishioner Sr. Kristin Peters. On Saturday, June 3, 2017, she made her profession of perpetual vows as a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration at the Mary of the Angels Chapel, St. Rose Convent, La Crosse, WI. We congratulate her and pray for her and her future ministry.
Meet Pat Sullivan. Pat is a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. On Thursday, June 9, Archbishop Blase Cupich awarded her a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Chicago Catholic Scripture School of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Pat is one of the teachers in our Saturday School of Religion Program, and her training in this area should enhance her ability to teach our children. Our congratulations to Pat Sullivan.
