Meet Atticus Gilbert Godon, our newest parishioner. He is the newborn son of Patrick and Keri Godon. Patrick Godon is our director of music and worship. He was born on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1:11a.m. and weighted in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces. Pictured with him are his two brothers Oliver and Gilbert Godon.
CHRISTIFILELES AWARD - OCT. 23, 2016
Meet Gerry Malone. Gerry is a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church who has been a generous supporter of our parish with his time, talent and treasure. He has volunteered to lead or to help with many of the ministries of our Parish. He is currently a member of our Parish Finance Council, a Lector and a Minister of Communion. On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, he was awarded the Christifideles Award by Archbishop Blase Cupich at Holy Name Cathedral. This award is bestowed upon a Catholic individual has used his or her talents to deepen the life of the parish or has served in an extraordinary way the ministry of the parish. Our thanks and congratulations to Gerry.
Meet Pat Sullivan. Pat is a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. On Thursday, June 9, Archbishop Blase Cupich awarded her a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Chicago Catholic Scripture School of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Pat is one of the teachers in our Saturday School of Religion Program, and her training in this area should enhance her ability to teach our children. She Is now also taking a class in the Theology of Ministry at Catholic Theological Union. Our congratulations to Pat Sullivan.
2016 ACCW - WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Each year, the St. Gregory the Great Council of Catholic Women honors one of its members at an ACCW luncheon the day before Mother’s Day. This year our honoree is Dolly Calcaterra. Dolly has been involved in several different ministries of St. Gregory the Great Parish and is always ready to volunteer her time and talent to help St. Gregory the Great in whatever way she can. We congratulate Dolly and thank her for the many ways in which she supports and promotes the mission and the ministries of our parish.
BISHOP QUARTER AWARD - Jan. 10, 2016
Meet Joseph Malham. Joseph is one of St. Gregory the Great’s artists in residence. He is a celebrated iconographer who created the icon of St. Gregory the Great located in the vestibule of our Church and who created the processional cross that we use at our Sunday liturgies. On January 10, 2016, Joseph was awarded the Bishop Quarter Award at Holy Name Cathedral by Archbishop Blase Cupich. This award is given to an individual lay Catholic who has used his talents to deepen the life of the Church across the Vicariate or the Archdiocese of Chicago. We offer our thanks and congratulations to Joseph for the many things he does in our parish to enhance our mission and ministry.
