Meet Molly Sheridan. Molly is one of our best and most faithful altar servers. She has also been a member of our Youth Choir. Molly recently graduated from Northside Catholic Academy. At the graduation ceremony, she received the President's Award - an award granted by the President to students who have achieved academic excellence. We congratulate Molly and wish her well this Fall as she begins High School.
Meet Martin Marulanda. He was born and raised in Colombia and came to the United States three years ago. Martin is a seminarian at Mundelein Seminary who is studying to be ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Chicago. He has just finished his first year of Theology. He will be a resident at St. Gregory the Great for the months of June and July. During that time he will be taking an English as a second language course at Northwestern University, and he will be working part time for Catholic Charities. Please welcome him and keep him in your prayers.
2017 ACCW - WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Each year, the St. Gregory the Great Council of Catholic Women honors one of its members at an ACCW luncheon the day before Mother’s Day. This year our honoree is Isabel Martinez. Isabel has been involved in different ministries of St. Gregory the Great Parish and is always ready to volunteer her time and talent to help St. Gregory the Great in whatever way she can. We congratulate Isabel and thank her for the many ways in which she supports and promotes the mission and the ministries of our parish.
Meet former parishioner Sr. Kristin Peters. On Saturday, June 3 at 10a.m. she will make her profession of perpetual vows as a Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration at the Mary of the Angels Chapel, St. Rose Convent, 912 Market St., La Crosse, WI. The vow ceremony will be live-streamed and may be accessed through www.fspa.org. We congratulate her and pray for her and her future ministry.
CHRISTIFILELES AWARD - OCT. 23, 2016
Meet Gerry Malone. Gerry is a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church who has been a generous supporter of our parish with his time, talent and treasure. He has volunteered to lead or to help with many of the ministries of our Parish. He is currently a member of our Parish Finance Council, a Lector and a Minister of Communion. On Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, he was awarded the Christifideles Award by Archbishop Blase Cupich at Holy Name Cathedral. This award is bestowed upon a Catholic individual has used his or her talents to deepen the life of the parish or has served in an extraordinary way the ministry of the parish. Our thanks and congratulations to Gerry.
Meet Pat Sullivan. Pat is a long time parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. On Thursday, June 9, Archbishop Blase Cupich awarded her a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Chicago Catholic Scripture School of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Pat is one of the teachers in our Saturday School of Religion Program, and her training in this area should enhance her ability to teach our children. She Is now also taking a class in the Theology of Ministry at Catholic Theological Union. Our congratulations to Pat Sullivan.
